Ukraine will have its own analogue of Upwork for IT freelancers

Ukraine will create its own platform for freelancers in the IT industry, similar to Upwork.

Ukrainewants to create an analogue of Upwork, a platform for freelancers in the ITindustry.

This wasannounced at a meeting of the European Business Association by the Minister ofDigital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, Business.Censor reports.

The newonline resource aims to unite Ukrainian IT businesses that need orders. It willhelp companies attract foreign clients under state guarantees.

"Weare currently thinking and working with some IT clusters on a project that willbe like a Ukrainian Upwork. We want to unite businesses on one platform for thewhole world. And we will say that we, as a state, give certainguarantees," Fedorov said.

Accordingto him, the Ministry of Digital Transformation plans to present a 10-yearinnovation strategy in December, which his team is currently working on.

"Wehave already analysed the experience of the top countries in terms of GDP,engaged business and the best experts. We have identified the main areas ofwork and priority areas. This will be a clear answer to the question of how todevelop innovations in Ukraine," wrote Mikhail Fedorov on his Telegram channel.

In thesecond year of the full-scale war, the situation with IT jobs in Ukraine hasbecome noticeably more difficult. According to a survey by the DOUportal, 25% of IT professionals have been fired or had their contracts notrenewed in the last 12 months (six months ago, the number was only 16%).Another 16% of specialists left their jobs or projects on their own initiative,and 8% were sent on a lunch or unpaid leave.

Overall,47% of IT professionals have left their jobs or projects in the last year. Bothexperienced professionals and those who have only recently started working inthe industry are being laid off.
