96% of Romanians have heard of the term"homosexuality", with the majority also knowing its meaning, according to mozaiqlgbt.ro.  

There is a significant difference in knowledge of the term "transgender" (58%) versus "transsexuality"(89%).

Representation in the media: 29% of Romanians often or frequently see LGBT+ representation in the media and online.

Personal relationships: One in five Romanians knows someone who is gay or lesbian, while the figure drops to 7% for transgender people and 3% for non-binary people.

Perceptions and discrimination:

69% of Romanians believe that LGBT+ people contribute to the well-being of society.

49% of Romanians believe that gay people are discriminated against in Romania, and 47% believe that transgender people are discriminated against.

Political opinions:

56% of Romanians agree with banning LGBT+ parades.

41% have a supportive or neutral attitude towards legalizing civil partnerships.

38% have a supportive or neutral attitude towards legalizing gay marriages.

Family and personal relationships: About 10% of Romanians would break ties with their children if they found out that they were LGBT+, but an overwhelming majority opt for acceptance.

Education: 88% of Romanians agree with teaching sex education in schools.
