Schools can apply for funding until the end of November to implement violence prevention programs

The Ministry of Education has allocated 1,407,473 lei to enable the implementation of programs aimed at reducing violence in the school environment in at least 250 educational institutions, according to an announcement by Minister Ligia Deca.

The minister explained that schools can participate in the program until 30 November. In Ms Deca's view, schools can play a crucial role in promoting non-violence by working with social partners or other public institutions to carry out activities aimed at improving relationships and cohesion in groups, as well as raising awareness of the consequences of violent behavior for children, reports bursa.ro

"Alongside schools, however, it takes all of us to make the environment in which our children grow up as safe as possible. I hope that reducing violence will be a priority for everyone around children!" added Ligia Deca.

The objectives of the program include creating a safe and welcoming environment in schools, encouraging the reporting of violence and raising awareness of the consequences of such behavior. Activities planned under the program include themed visits, student support groups, awareness-raising campaigns, meetings with law enforcement representatives, and other initiatives aimed at developing cohesion among school communities.

The Ministry of Education estimates that at least 250 schools will be enrolled in the program, benefiting around 20,000 pupils and 10,000 parents. It is an important initiative to ensure a safe and healthy school environment for children in Romania.
