The Rada has dismissed the Minister of Youth and Sports, Gutzeit
The decision was supported by 243 Members of Parliament.
TheVerkhovna Rada has dismissed Ukraine's Minister of Youth and Sports, VadymGutzeit.
Thedecision was supported by 243 parliamentarians, as reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Gutzeit hadsubmitted his resignation from the position on November 8. During his speech inparliament before the vote, Gutzeit stated that he would continue to work inthe National Olympic Committee (NOC).
Currently,there are no candidates for the vacant ministerial position.
VadymGutzeit was appointed as the Minister on March 4, 2020. Prior to this, heserved as the Director of the Department of Youth and Sports in the Kyiv CityState Administration. In November 2022, he became the new President of the NOCof Ukraine, replacing Sergei Bubka, who had held the position for 17 years.
Gutzeit'stenure as the Minister had been subject to regular criticism. In particular, inMarch of this year, he cautiously supported the International OlympicCommittee's recommendation to allow Russians and Belarusians to participate ininternational competitions under a neutral flag, which causedoutrage among some prominent athletes.
