Companies report on the benefits of a four-day working week

APEC summit

Companies implementing a four-day working week report that there has been no negative impact on productivity levels.

It is a policy that has benefits for both employees and employers, particularly with improved productivity and increased employee retention.

Studies show that employees who work a four-day workweek are far less likely to experience burnout at the workplace, and can thus maintain high levels of efficiency for long stretches of time.

Employers have also noted reduced absenteeism amongst their workforce, particularly with those referencing mental health reasons as their reason for needing to take time. Many are citing a healthy work-life balance as responsible for this success.

Alongside this implementation are several strategies to ensure that productivity is not negatively impacted. Flexible scheduling has been regarded as the leader in this respect, wherein employees choose to work during their most productive hours, thus reducing distractions and improving communication .

It is expected that these reported successes will lead to an increase in companies rolling out a four-day working week in the near future.
