"Hansen's Town" is a ray of hope for those affected by the war

On October 19, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited "Hansen's Town" in the village of Tarasivka, near Kyiv. This new district was constructed for families who lost their homes during the war. The project was funded by the Wasatch Group and the charitable organisation To Ukraine with Love , founded by American businessman and philanthropist Dell Loy Hansen.

The settlement spans over 9 hectares and features typical apartments designed for families of two to five people. Plans also include the creation of family-style children's homes. The accommodations are ready for occupancy, equipped with furniture, appliances, textiles, and a gift package of kitchenware.

According to the President's Office, the opportunity to reside in the settlement will be provided free of charge to elderly individuals, families of fallen soldiers, and war veterans.

Dell Loy Hansen explained that the project consists of four implementation phases. The first phase aims to house 350 people in 80 apartments, with housing ultimately planned for 450 families. The settlement will also feature a school for 600 students, a kindergarten, a library, sports facilities, and centres for medical and emotional support. The main goal of the project is to create a welcoming community for vulnerable populations, including retirees, widows, orphans, and war veterans.

Dell Loy Hansen, an American businessman and owner of the Real Salt Lake sports team, is the founder and CEO of the Wasatch Group. He has been actively involved in charitable projects supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, and he reaffirms his commitment to continue working in this direction. He believes that Ukraine is fighting for democracy worldwide, and he is pleased to have the opportunity to work with wonderful people in such a beautiful country.
