Education budget in 2024:
Significant growth in investment and development
The education budget for 2024 looks set to be a remarkable one, with an impressive increase of almost 57% on the current year. The statement was made by Finance Minister Marcel Boloș at a press conference on Tuesday. This substantial increase comes in the context of the massive investments under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, together with contributions from the Cohesion Policy. Moreover, the salary increases already applied from July 2023 bring an additional dimension to this budget expansion.
The Education Budget for 2024 focuses mainly on investments, with a focus on major projects financed by European funds. Minister Boloș stressed that in this context, it starts in 2024 with a robust portfolio of projects, while ensuring continuity in the absorption of funds and a significant budget earmarked for investments, according to Agerpres.
"The indicative investment budget for 2024 exceeds the current one. The investment policy for 2024 focuses primarily on European funds, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the resources allocated to the Anghel Saligny programme, focused on infrastructure, especially roads, water, sewerage and gas connection in rural areas," Minister Boloș stressed.
Boloş also pointed out that a considerable budget is also allocated to Health, through the PNRR and the Operational Health Programme. These measures reflect the government's commitment to supporting rural communities and providing an ambitious budget for key areas such as Education and Health.
This optimistic outlook for the Education budget in 2024 highlights the importance placed on investment and the need for continued development of public infrastructure and services, reflecting a firm commitment to progress and improvement in the education sector.
