Cooperation between Ukraine and the United States: production and supply of weapons

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced that following negotiations with the U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington, Ukraine and the United States will collaborate on the production of weapons and defence systems. They also announced a new U.S. military aid package for Ukraine worth $325 million, including Avenger air defence systems, AIM-9M missiles for air defence, additional ammunition for HIMARS, and a range of other weaponry, specifically:

• AIM-9M missiles for air defence;

• Machine guns for countering unmanned aerial systems;

• 155mm artillery shells, including DPICM (cluster munitions);

• 105mm artillery shells;

• Optically tracked wire-guided (TOW) missiles;

• Anti-tank systems Javelin and AT-4;

• Over 3 million rounds of small arms ammunition;

• 59 light tactical vehicles;

• Obstacle clearing equipment;

• Spare parts, technical maintenance, and other field equipment.

"We discussed the systematic strengthening of Ukraine and our defence, our defence capabilities. An important agreement: Ukraine and the United States will work together to manufacture weapons and defence systems. We are preparing an industrial base to produce air defence systems and other necessary items in cooperation," Zelenskyi stated in the Telegram .

He also thanked Biden for supporting the Peace Formula: "Grateful for the new defence package. It's exactly what our soldiers need right now... Strengthening our institutions, the Ukrainian state, rebuilding the country after hostilities, international cooperation - today we managed to discuss many topics," Zelenskyi emphasised.
