Ukraine has regained control over the "Boiko Towers" in the Black Sea
Ukraine has taken back the gas and oil drilling platforms B312 and B319 in the Black Sea, also known as "Petr Hodovanets" and "Ukraine." These platforms were seized by Russia during the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and converted into military installations.
According to ТСН.ua , these platforms were previously owned by the state enterprise "Chornomornaftogaz," shares of which belong to NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine." They were constructed near the Crimean coast in 2010 and 2012, respectively.
These installations got their name "Boiko Towers" due to the involvement of Yuriy Boyko, the former Minister of Energy, in their acquisition. After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, Russia "nationalised" these objects, but now Ukraine has reclaimed them as state property, marking an important strategic step in restoring national security.
It's worth noting that missile strikes by Ukraine in June 2022 against the "Boiko Towers" concluded Russia's use of these platforms for military purposes, significantly reducing Russia's capabilities in the Black Sea.
