Diaspora has raised over 90 million dollars to support Ukraine
The President of the World Congress of Ukrainians, Pavlo Grod, announced that since the start of the full-scale war initiated by Russia against Ukraine, the Congress has gathered over 90 million dollars, which have been directed towards supporting the Armed Forces.
He shared this information during his participation in the telethon Unity News
"Today, the Ukrainian diaspora is contributing funds to various areas, including the reconstruction of housing for internally displaced persons and support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Just one and a half weeks ago, we delivered 50 armoured vehicles and 70 military trucks. Other investments are going into different sectors, including energy and agribusiness. This support needs to continue," said Pavlo Grod.
He emphasised the importance of ongoing assistance to Ukraine: "In Canada, there are 175,000 Ukrainian refugees. It is essential for all Ukrainians, regardless of whether they were born in Canada, like myself, or arrived here 20 years ago or just a month and a half ago, to feel like Ukrainians."
He also highlighted that the World Congress of Ukrainians, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, is working on a global project called "Unite For Ukraine." The Ministry of Defense, territorial defence, intelligence, and other units of the Armed Forces are also involved in this cooperation.
"We are working closely with our team in Ukraine and understand their needs. At the beginning of the war, we provided support in terms of equipment like helmets, thermal imagers, body armour, and medical kits. Today, we realise the need for tactical medicine, drones, and armoured vehicles. So, we focus on providing what is needed at a specific moment. People who entrust us with their funds know that we maintain full transparency in fund utilisation. We purchase the necessary equipment and deliver it to those who require it, while also ensuring proper distribution. We call on the international community to join these efforts," emphasised Pavlo Grod.
