The drama that took the life of a teenager and the scandal involving the mayor

Boldureşti, a town in the heart of Moldova, was rocked by a terrible tragedy two days ago. A teenager of just 14 years old lost his life in a shocking accident, and the alleged perpetrator is the local mayor himself, Nicanor Ciochină, former chief of Nisporeni police. After knocking down the child, Ciochină allegedly did not stop to help him, but left the teenager to lie in a pool of blood. The events that followed are as shocking as the tragedy itself.

Controversy over mayor's involvement

Mayor Ciochină, a well-known figure in the community and former head of the local police, became the center of a scandal that is shaking the confidence of Boldurești residents. As well as being behind the wheel at the tragic moment, he is accused of fleeing the scene of the accident and trying to mislead the authorities by evading responsibility.

Misleading and fleeing the scene

According to information provided by Moldovan police officers, Mayor Ciochină not only fled the scene of the accident, but staged his own version of events. He changed the license plates of the car involved and later even staged another road accident in an attempt to hide all traces. However, the authorities managed to unmask the maneuver and detained him for 72 hours. Law enforcement officials released a video of Ciochină trying to get away scot-free and announced that he was helped by a dentist from the city of Nisporeni.

Witnesses' testimonies

One of the witnesses of the accident recounted that in the evening when the tragedy occurred, they were with the victim and were returning home after walking around the locality. They were walking on the pavement, and at one point the car hit the 14-year-old child head-on and drove off. The impact was so severe that he would have been thrown dozens of meters.

"I tried to give him some help, I immediately called his mother too. Two other cars subsequently drove by, but no one stopped to give any help".

Mayor's wife, victim's former teacher

The mother of the child whose life was taken is devastated with grief, and sadly shares that the mayor's wife was even the boy's teacher. She bitterly reports that over the course of two days, none of the mayor's family members tried to contact them to offer support or help during this difficult time.

"When I came to the scene they wouldn't even let me get close to him, I only saw him lying with his head on the stones and still only blood".
This tragedy not only affects the family of the lost teenager, but the whole community. The residents of Boldurești are shocked and bewildered by the serious accusations against the local leader. It is a time of grief and dismay for all involved.

Expectations of justice and transparency

With Mayor Ciochină now at the center of criminal attention, the community is waiting for answers and firm action from the authorities. The residents of Boldurești want to see that justice is served and that no one is above the law, no matter what position they hold. It is worth mentioning that his brother is a deputy prosecutor at the Nisporeni District Prosecutor's Office. There have been accusations that he helped him to hide the crime, but the Superior Council of Prosecutors of the Republic of Moldova rejected the information and said that "everyone must be considered innocent until proven guilty", therefore, in the absence of evidence, the allegations made in the public arena fall within the scope of the alleged charges, until a decision on the case is rendered.

30 days of detention

The court decided to incarcerate Ciochină in Penitentiary 13 in the Moldovan capital Chişinau. New information is emerging, and the prosecutor in the case says authorities are investigating whether the mayor was under the influence of alcohol while driving. The defendant's lawyer says his client is in a state of shock and is affected by his state of health. He has so far refused to make any statements. If proven guilty, the mayor of Boldurești, Nicanor Ciochină, faces up to nine years in prison. The dentist, who allegedly helped Ciochină, is being investigated at large.
