China and Vietnam intend to strengthen security cooperation, according to a statement made by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the end of his visit to Hanoi, where dozens of agreements and arrangements were concluded.

This was reported by Reuters.

In a joint statement, the two countries promised to cooperate more closely in the defense industry and intelligence sharing. The purpose of such cooperation, they said, is to prevent a "color revolution" that could be provoked by hostile forces.

The two countries announced the establishment of a "strategic China-Vietnam community of 'shared future'" to help improve their relations. This is a recognized historical milestone, and participation in such a community is considered a "strategic" choice.

Xi Jinping's visit is his fourth overseas visit this year and is defined by his desire to strengthen ties, especially after Vietnam raised the United States to the highest level of its diplomatic ranking, just like China. While the upgrade may be more symbolic than real, it is a recognition of the achievements of Vietnam's "bamboozled" diplomacy, especially in the face of competition between China and the United States for influence in the strategic country, analysts say.
