"The Forest Song" was more successful at the Ukrainian box office than "Avatar: The Way of Water", becoming the highest-grossing film in Ukraine in 2023. Already in March, it achieved its first record, becoming the highest-grossing Ukrainian film over three weekends, grossing UAH 81.8 million. The film was screened in more than 20 countries, including the US, Canada and Spain.

According to the distributor Kinomania, the box office of the Ukrainian market for the period from May to October totaled UAH 155.9 million, which is equivalent to $4.3 million. At the same time, the film grossed about $15.7 million abroad during this period.

The film, based on Lesya Ukrainka's The Forest Song, was made over seven years, with a budget of UAH 187 million, of which UAH 49.5 million was contributed by the state. To recover the costs associated with the production, the animated film had to earn $10 million from the sale of all rights in Ukraine and abroad, including distribution, cooperation with platforms, television and licensing. However, the film managed to double this amount, earning $20 million. 

It is worth noting that most tickets for Mavka were sold in France - 551,000, where it grossed $4.1 million and became the fifth highest-grossing animated film of 2023.

The film was also successful in Poland, where 480,000 tickets were sold, and in Italy, where it was the fifth highest grossing animated film of 2023, grossing $2.2 million. In Portugal, The Little Mermaid became the top independent animated debut of 2023 and ranked second among all animated releases.
