High flow of travellers at Romania's border
Over 75,000 people in one day
The General Inspectorate of Border Police reported that an impressive 75,976 people entered Romania through border crossings on Sunday. This number included 6,526 Ukrainian citizens. This figure reflects an intense flow of travelers and the activity at checkpoints involved checking formalities for more than 157,600 persons and around 40,400 means of transport, reports Agerpres.
Since the beginning of the pre-conflict period, i.e. since 10 February 2022, more than 6.7 million Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania. During checks in the border police's areas of responsibility, 30 illegal acts were found, including 15 offenses and 15 contraventions. The total amount of fines imposed exceeded 15,700 lei and goods worth approximately 17,000 lei were seized for confiscation.
In addition to this, there were also instances in which 14 foreign citizens were refused entry into the country because they did not meet the legal conditions, and 20 Romanian citizens were not allowed to leave for various legal reasons. The high flow of travelers and significant incidents highlight the complexity of border management in the current context.
