Ukraine starts mass production of Shahed drones

Ukraine has successfully launched the production of analogues of Iranian Shahed drones, which were designed and assembled at a Ukrainian plant. Over the recent period, production has increased to dozens of such drones per month.

This was announced by Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister for Strategic Industries, during a meeting with the European Business Association, according to Forbes.

"We do not say the name of this product, but we have launched mass production of it and now (produce) dozens of them per month, continuing with many other items that we used to produce very little, and now we have decent numbers", the minister said.

According to him, the defence industry plays a key role in the development of the country's economy, and in the future it may become its main sector. Kamyshin added that many drone manufacturers are finding it possible to obtain resources from state-owned enterprises that are not available to them on their own.

As a reminder, since September 2022, Iranian kamikaze drones have been systematically attacking Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. Ukrainian intelligence has established that the drones are being transferred to russia from Iran, and Iranian instructors are working in the occupied territories. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the russians had already used more than 400 Iranian drones during the war against Ukraine. Iran acknowledged that it supplied drones to Russia, but claims that this happened before the invasion. However, the Ukrainian military discovered foreign components in drones manufactured in February 2022 and passed this information on to the countries' partners.
