The UnitedStates has more than $5.4 billion to provide military assistance to Ukraine.

This wasannounced at a briefing in Washington by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder.

The generalclarified that these funds are allocated under the presidential authority.

As areminder, on 11 October, during the 16th meeting of the Ramstein Contact Groupon Ukraine's Defence, the US approved a new $200 million military aid packagefor Ukraine. It includes AIM-9 ammunition for air defence systems, artilleryshells and missiles, precision aviation munitions, anti-tank weapons andequipment to counter Russian drones.

Subsequently,JoeBiden requested an additional $106 billion funding package from Congress topurchase weapons for partner countries. Of this amount, $61.3 billion is proposedto be allocated to supply weapons to Ukraine, and $14.3 billion to Israel.

Meanwhile, the newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, is proposingto approve a separate package of $14.3 billion to help Israel, as"funding for Ukraine is not the right time".

However, the chances of this package being approved are low, as Senate RepublicanMinority Leader Mitch McConnell supportsa joint aid package for Ukraine and Israel. And the White House is ready toveto and block Johnson's initiative and the group of Republicans who supportit.
