Documents that may indicate Danilevich's russian citizenship have also been discovered

The Security Service of Ukraine has announced suspicion of Mykola Danylevych, deputy head of the synodal department for external church relations of the UOC MP, as reported by their press service. According to the SBU, Danylevych justified russia's military aggression against Ukraine and called for cooperation with the occupants, as well as inciting religious hatred.

"After the full-scale invasion of rf, the archpriest publicly called for cooperation with the rashists to jointly 'pray for the health and well-being' of the russian occupiers", the SBU said.

They also reported that the priest ran a network of UOC (MP) dioceses abroad, through which pro-kremlin narratives were disseminated.

During searches at Danylevych's place of residence, an insurance certificate of mandatory pension insurance of the russian federation and documents confirming his studies at the diplomatic academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the russian federation were found. The cleric is suspected under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: violation of equal rights of citizens and justification of the russian federation's aggression against Ukraine. He faces up to five years in prison with confiscation of property.

The searches at Danylevych's home were previously reported by media outlets, noting that he was part of a delegation that in 2017 tried to convince Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew not to grant a tomos to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

According to the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime until his guilt is legally proven. On 3 December 2022, the SBU released a list of moscow Patriarchate church figures who fell under the "church sanctions" of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.
