There was also a manipulation and two disinformation pieces, including false statements about Kharkiv

According to media reports, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on April 11 discovered one manipulation and two fakes in foreign media publications. Among them was disinformation from the Dutch journalist Sonja van den Ende, who wrote on the website devend. online:

"Unfortunately, we can conclude that the US and especially NATO will try everything (all tactics - ed.) in russia because of Ukraine - riots, attacks, murders, drone attacks, pitting the population against each other and sanctions, that is, the whole scenario, as the US and NATO/EU did after the end of World War II".

The manipulation was that Irish journalist Chay Bowes said in X:

"The US is spending $80,000 per second on Ukraine, known for its corruption, at a time when 40 million Americans are living in poverty."

Another disinformation came from former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter, who claimed:

"russia is now dropping bombs on the center of Kharkiv, destroying these (Ukrainian - ed.) targets. This is the end of Kharkiv's ability to resist. I believe that Ukraine will have to surrender Kharkiv in the coming weeks".

russian propagandists had earlier spread a fake about the "possible encirclement of Kharkiv" with a call to evacuate the city by April 15, 2024.
