"Concentrating generation at a few sites is what leads to serious problems under massive enemy fire. We, as an energy system operator, understand that the only sustainable way to secure the energy system from such massive terror is to decentralize generation capacity," he said.

According to him, it is necessary to build hundreds of small power plants, attacks on which will not have serious consequences for the energy system as a whole.

"Today, solar and wind power plants are already being built in Ukraine - without a "green" tariff, based on investors' forecasts of return on investment. In addition to them, we also need technologies for balancing," Kudrytskyy said.

The company estimates that the energy system needs a new thermal generation, but not coal-fired, but one that will work on waste from the woodworking industry, agricultural sector, etc. It should be dispersed throughout the country.

  • The russian occupation army attacked the largest hydroelectric power plant in Ukraine, Dnipro Dam, on March 22. As a result of the shelling, a person was killed. Also, oil products got into the river.
  • On March 25, Ukrhydroenergo said that it would take years to restore the Dnipro Dam.
  • According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, the environmental damage caused by the rocket attack on the Dnipro Dam amounts to more than 140 million UAH.
  • The deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada committee on energy and housing and communal services, Oleh Seminsky, said on April 1 that the energy system was operating stably thanks to various types of generation and spare equipment provided by partners.
