Moldova sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine worth 4.9 million lei, including medical supplies

President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met with Penny Pritzker, the US Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery. They discussed the importance of U.S. support for Ukraine, which is facing aggression from russia, and its impact on the preservation of peace in Moldova.

The discussion also highlighted Moldova's potential role in Ukraine's recovery.

"We can help strengthen ties between Ukraine and Romania, as well as with other EU countries, by modernizing our roads and railways. This will not only improve regional trade but also help our economy. Moldova is also ready to provide support to companies involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine to facilitate their access and investment in the country," the administration said in a statement.

The meeting also touched upon the impact of the war on the population and businesses, the need to improve infrastructure and attract investment to develop Moldova's economy and create new jobs. Sandu thanked the United States for its assistance in confronting energy, economic, security and humanitarian challenges, as well as for its strong partnership since Moldova gained independence.

In addition, Moldova sent another batch of humanitarian aid to Ukraine worth 4.9 million lei (approximately 253 thousand euros), which included medical supplies.
