According to TRT Haber, the tragedy occurred near the Republican People's Party office in the Tavas district, where its supporters had gathered to celebrate the victory in the local elections. The large number of people on two balconies led to the collapse of one of them. As a result of the collapse, 18 people were injured, one of whom died in the hospital. Of the 14 people hospitalized, 13 have been discharged and four continue to be treated.

The Republican People's Party defeated the Justice and Development Party in these local elections, winning mayoralty in key cities across the country, including Ankara and Istanbul. Another incident was also reported at a polling station where a shooting occurred during voting, killing one person and wounding 12 others, two of whom are in critical condition.
