ISW named the direction in which the russian federation may launch a new large-scale offensive
The russian military may launch a large-scale offensive in the western part of the Donetsk region in late spring
The Institute for the Study of War writes this.
American analysts suggest that russian commanders may focus their expected late spring-summer 2024 offensive in the western part of the Donetsk region. In this way, the russians hope to build on the steady but marginal progress of their troops in this sector.
"Ukrainian officials have recently warned that the russian federation is accumulating personnel along the Kharkiv-Lugansk axis, near Bakhmut, Avdiivka and in the west of the Zaporizhzhya region. However, the russians are likely to be able to launch a large-scale offensive operation in only one operational direction," the ISW concluded.
- On March 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy named the conditions under which a new Defense Forces counteroffensive is possible this year.
