Telegram users from Ukraine, belarus, and russia will be able to limit the number of people who can send personal messages. The new feature will go live next week

He noted that four days ago, russian-speaking Telegram users began complaining about messages from strangers calling for terrorist attacks.

"Within an hour of receiving such complaints, we took a number of technical and organizational measures to prevent this activity. As a result, tens of thousands of attempts to send such messages were stopped, and thousands of users participating in this flash mob faced permanent blocking of their Telegram accounts," Durov wrote.

The messenger's founder said that starting next week, Telegram users from Ukraine, belarus and russia will be able to limit the number of people who can send them personal messages. Durov also noted that an artificial intelligence-based solution will be implemented to filter such spam more effectively.

  • On March 25, it was reported that MP Mykola Kniazhytskyi from the EU proposed to regulate Telegram, which is of russian origin, in Ukraine. At the same time, there is no talk of blocking the messenger.
