On Thursday, March 28, the President of the French National Assembly, Yaelle Braun-Pivet, and a French delegation came to Ukraine to speak at the Verkhovna Rada and meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

This was reported by espresso.tv

"Pleasant arrival in Ukraine together with Valerie Rabault, Thomas Gassilloud and Benjamin Haddad to reaffirm the support of the National Assembly for the Ukrainian people," she wrote.

Later, the Speaker of the lower house of the French parliament delivered a speech in the Verkhovna Rada. This was reported by People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to him, Braun-Pivet said that Ukraine not only did not surrender, but became stronger. At the same time, the EU has mobilized itself to help a friendly democracy: the total amount of aid since the beginning of the full-scale invasion is 89 billion euros, of which France has provided more than 3.8 billion euros in military aid.

"The day will come when peaceful Ukraine will restore its territorial integrity. The day will come when martyr cities will rise again, when war criminals will pay, when Ukrainian grain will feed the world. The day will come when Ukraine will no longer be a frontline, but the eastern gateway to the EU. This day will be the day of your victory. And here you can count on France. Both for protection and further recovery," the politician emphasized.

Zheleznyak added that the air raid alarm interrupted the MP's speech.

Later, President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the French delegation. He noted that Ukraine appreciates the support of the French parliament for the Security Cooperation Agreement between Ukraine and France.

"We discussed cooperation in the defense sector and the priority needs of our soldiers. Special attention was paid to the latest proposals of President Emmanuel Macron to expand support for our country," Zelenskyy said.

  • On March 26, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu said he was ready to use his powers to requisition industrial facilities or set priorities for weapons manufacturers to speed up production to help Ukraine.
