The Government of Ukraine has simplified the procedure for adoption of children
Innovations from the Cabinet of Ministers are aimed at speeding up the process of placing orphans in families
The Ministry of Social Policy informs that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted amendments that simplify the adoption procedures and placement of children without parental care in new families. According to the new rules, families in the process of adoption are now able to take the child away from the family before the official court decision. In addition, the temporary stay of a child with potential adoptive parents becomes possible after receiving a positive opinion from the district state administration or local authorities on the adoption being in the best interests of the child.
The validity of the certificate of completion of courses on raising orphans and children deprived of parental care was also extended to two years. The procedure for obtaining guardianship or custody for families where one of the spouses is in military service has been simplified, allowing them to submit a medical certificate within 15 days after returning.
In addition, families who temporarily place a child, including relatives, friends, foster families and family-type orphanages, will receive financial support until the child is officially recognized as an orphan or deprived of parental care, the Ministry of Social Policy notes.
On December 22, the launch of the unified state online platform "Ukraine for Every Child" was announced, which is to start in early 2024 and will promote adoption and family-based care.
