Study shows the absence of Ferrari, Rolls-Royce and other luxury brands from the list of taxable autos

Bihus.info journalists have found that the government's list of cars that will be subject to the so-called "luxury tax" of UAH 25 thousand in 2024 does not include some well-known luxury brands. This list, prepared by the State Enterprise Derzhzovnishinform and published on the website of the Ministry of Economy, has errors and gaps that allow avoiding taxation.

In particular, the absence of Ferrari cars, which are among the most expensive on the Ukrainian market, is surprising. Similarly, there was no place in the list for Rolls-Royce cars, which are popular among Ukrainian MPs. There was also no mention of Lamborghini cars, which are also confirmed to be owned by well-known people.

In addition, journalists found that McLaren, Alpina and some Mercedes-Benz models, which should be subject to taxation according to price criteria, were not on the list. They also pointed out errors in the list, such as incorrectly indicating engine sizes for some Bentley models and spelling the name Mercedes-Maybach as "Maybach."

The transport tax in Ukraine is levied on owners of cars that are no more than five years old and whose average market value exceeds 375 minimum wages, which is currently about UAH 2.7 million. The list of cars for taxation contains detailed information on makes, models, engine sizes, car age, and equipment so that owners can clearly understand whether their vehicle is subject to taxation.

As of January 2024, at least 10 thousand Ukrainians have used the vehicle re-registration service through the Diia app.
