They note that an expert group and the head of the UNESCO office in Ukraine will soon arrive in Odesa.

"We had no time to wait, as we could have lost what was left of the cathedral after the missile hit. Therefore, at the expense of benefactors and parishioners of the Odesa Eparchy, the roof was restored, and work began to restore the most damaged part of the building," said Odesa Mayor, Gennadiy Trukhanov.

In addition, at a meeting on the reconstruction of the cathedral, the mayor said that Ukraine, together with Italy and UNESCO, plans to rebuild other historical monuments that were damaged as a result of russian attacks.

Rome is also considering another option for cooperation with the Ukrainian government to restore Odesa and preserve its heritage. The plans include training of specialists, development of regulatory documents and standards in the field of cultural heritage.

"We will do everything right and as quickly as possible," said Attilio Magliani, advisor to the mayor, ambassador of Odesa to Italy.
