Not all Western scenarios for ending the war include 1991 borders, Ukraine should promote its own and have backup proposals, - political analyst Reiterovych

Ihor Reiterovych
Ihor Reiterovych, Head of Political and Legal Programs at the Ukrainian Center for Social Development, emphasizes the importance of Ukraine's understanding of the various scenarios considered by its partners, including those that do not involve a return to the 1991 borders

He said this in the evening on Espresso.

"We have to understand one simple thing: countries that are even our partners are considering different scenarios, they have at least three scenarios on the table - optimal, pessimistic and more or less realistic. And one of these scenarios, at least, does not involve going back to the 1991 borders. An important clarification: as of today, the scenarios that Ukraine is currently promoting - the Ukrainian formula for peace, return to the borders, etc. - is at the top of this pile, but it may be that it will be lower or even at the end," the expert believes.

Reiterovich added that Ukrainians should understand this and do everything possible to make our scenario for ending this war a priority for Western partners.

"They are considering different options - it's not a secret. We also need to have a few backup options, just in case, not in the sense that we should promote them, no, we should have one and the one we have is absolutely correct, it should be the key one. But if events evolve, for example, in a context that is not very positive for us, we must have some backup options, and these options must be offered by Ukraine, so that we are not shown a scenario and told that we will move according to it, and if you do not want to, then you will continue on your own. We need to be the initiators and implementers of certain initiatives," summed up the head of political and legal programs at the Ukrainian Center for Social Development."
