Lithuanian Parliament approves increase in defense spending to 3% of GDP
Today, March 21, the Lithuanian Parliament voted to increase defense spending to at least 3% of GDP

It is noted that this is fixed within the framework of the guidelines of the state budget, which stipulate that from 2025 at least 3% of GDP will be spent on defense.
This proposal was supported by two-thirds of the parliament.
NATO members have set a goal of at least 2% of GDP for defense spending, but only a few have reached this goal.
However, countries bordering russia have beefed up their defense after russia invaded Ukraine. Lithuania's neighbors Poland plans to spend more than 4% of GDP on defense this year, and Estonia - 3.2%.
