The head of the DIU said that neither side can yet determine what really happened

The head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said that it is currently unknown what exactly caused the crash of the russian military transport IL-76 and whether there were Ukrainian prisoners of war on board.

Budanov spoke about this on the air of the national telethon.

"Unfortunately, we must state that neither side can fully answer what happened there", - Budanov said.

He clarified that russia's position, which predictably blames Ukraine for everything, has a number of obvious inconsistencies.

"First of all, they did not show the fields covered with corpses and remains, as they should have shown it to maximize the blame on Ukraine. But even this is missing", - Budanov said.

The head of the Defense Intelligence also assured that he would do everything possible to ensure that the exchange takes place in the near future.

Recall that on January 24, an IL-76 aircraft, which is used to transport military equipment and troops, crashed in the belgorod region of the russian federation. Sources in the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the plane was carrying missiles for the S-300 air defense system, which the russians use for massive shelling of Kharkiv and other border regions of Ukraine. Instead, the russian ministry of defense claims that the plane "was carrying 65 captured Ukrainian servicemen" six crew members and three escorts.
