Large-scale operations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the Christmas mini-holiday: Over 160 people rescued
The MIA troops carried out public order missions, interventions in emergency situations and ensured safety on busy roads
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) reported a significant effort during the Christmas mini-holiday, with over 16,797 public order missions and 8,352 emergency interventions. More than 24,000 MAI employees were mobilized, ensuring the safety of citizens and managing various situations.
The public order staff intervened efficiently, detecting one crime and imposing 21 fines. The events with the most participants were recorded in Drăgănești-Vlașca, Bucharest and Brașov, reports Agerpres.
The number of violent offenses fell by 20% and almost 800 offenders were caught in the act. The authorities stress the cooperation of citizens and farmers in complying with biosecurity measures.
Traffic police reported a significant decrease in the number of serious road accidents, with an efficiency of over 54%. More than 2,000 driving licenses, including for the consumption of prohibited substances, were detained, an increase of 53.6% on the previous year.
Firefighters handled 8,352 emergencies, responding to 448 fires and providing medical assistance for the most part. Hydro-meteorological events led to additional interventions to clear trees and unblock vehicles stuck in snow.
At border crossings, with a daily average of 240,000 people and 60,000 means of transport, traffic flowed smoothly and the authorities report efficient management of events during this period.
