Romanians are once again turning their attention to European countries to spend New Year's Eve, according to data provided by an online travel agency. From affordable air tickets on the Bucharest - Vienna route (€36) to more expensive options to exotic destinations such as Bucharest - Dubai (€816), the diverse offer allows choices for all budgets.

More than 95% of New Year's Eve bookings were made for Europe, with the remaining percentages split evenly between destinations in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Italy remains the preferred destination with 22% of bookings, followed by the UK (14%) and Germany (9%), Agerpres reports.

Favorite European cities to spend the end of the year are London, Paris, Milan, Vienna and Rome, reflecting an increased attraction for city breaks. Otopeni Airport will be the main departure hub, with 83% of flights operating on New Year's Eve.

The average fare for a New Year's Eve air ticket is €198 and bookings were made in advance, with 53% of bookings made 30-90 days before the flight. With an average stay of 4-5 days, Romanians seem to be planning well in advance to celebrate New Year's Eve in various corners of Europe.
