On the official blog of Google in Ukraine reported the largest update of the translation service, which includes 110 new languages

It is said on the official blog of Google in Ukraine. It is indicated that the service uses artificial intelligence to expand the diversity of languages. In particular, thanks to the extensive language model, PaLM 2 will be able to add to the translator 110 new languages.

"Languages from Cantonese to Qʼeqchiʼ are spoken by more than 614 million speakers, which opens access to translation for about 8% of the world's population. Some of these languages are among the world's largest languages with more than 100 million speakers. Other languages are spoken by small indigenous communities and some have almost no native speakers, but active revitalization efforts continue. About a quarter of the new languages come from Africa, which is our largest expansion of African languages yet", the report said.

The new languages that will be supported in Google translators include Crimean Tatar, Afar, Cantonese, Manx, N'ko, Punjabi, Tok Pisin and others.

Google previously announced the first group of startups in 2024 that will receive funding from the Google Foundation for Startups in Ukraine.
