CNN: US may allow its contractors to service US weapons in Ukraine
President Joe Biden's administration may lift restrictions on military contractors deploying to Ukraine so they can maintain and repair U.S.-provided weapons
The matter is still under discussion, they said. It is expected that a decision could be made by the end of this year. It would give the Pentagon the ability to contract with companies to work in Ukraine. This should speed up the maintenance and repair of weapons used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, in particular F-16 fighter jets.
It is noted that it is a small number of specialists - up to several hundred.
Today, U.S.-provided military equipment has to be transported from Ukraine to Poland, Romania or other NATO states for repair.
