Tel Aviv protest demanded government resignation over holding hostages in Gaza

On Saturday, June 22, anti-war protests began in Tel Aviv. The protesters demanded the resignation of the Israeli government, while the police tried to disperse them.

The protesters are outraged that many hostages now in Gaza are still being held captive, and some are presumed dead. During the demonstration, law enforcers pushed and tried to remove the protesters. Bonfires were also lit at the protest.

It is not known how many hostages are still alive, although the government estimates, there are about 80, with about 40 more presumed dead. According to media reports, tens of thousands of people protested against Netanyahu's coalition and in favor of an agreement that would free hostages in several other Israeli cities, including Jerusalem, Caesarea, Haifa and Be'er Sheva.

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, the Israel Defense Forces, together with the Israeli police, released four hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023.
