Spanish company announces space tourism launch in 2025
Bases in Seville and Abu Dhabi are planning commercial flights to an altitude of 40,000 meters
EOS-X Space, based in Seville, announced it will begin commercial flights from bases in Seville and Abu Dhabi in the third quarter of next year. The sealed carbon-fiber capsule will be able to lift seven passengers and a pilot to an altitude of 40,000 meters using a helium-filled stratostat.
The flight will begin at dawn and take two hours to climb, two hours to stay aloft and another hour to descend and land. The EOS-X capsule will be equipped with ergonomic seats, panoramic windows, lights, a bar and a toilet.
Passengers will pay between €150,000 and €200,000 for the trip. The company says it will soon validate the capsule in collaboration with Spain's National Institute of Aerospace Technology.
On May 19, a Blue Origin tourist rocket with six passengers on board was launched into space for the first time in nearly two years.
