The U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence believes Russia will try to influence the U.S. presidential election with artificial intelligence
According to officials at the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Russia poses the most serious threat in this election cycle.
Russia is seeking to influence the 2024 presidential election through hired commercial firms and the use of generative artificial intelligence.
It has been noted that Moscow likely sees the election as an opportunity to achieve its broader goals of reducing support for Ukraine's war effort, undermining confidence in democratic institutions, and generally undermining confidence in the United States.
The intelligence community expects Russia to exploit social divisions in the U.S., including protests on college campuses in support of Palestinians in the Gaza war.
- As early as May 2, the U.S. Defense Department said that it was closely monitoring Russia's military cooperation with Iran and North Korea and would respond to attempts by other countries to strengthen the military-industrial potential of the aggressor state.
