Another right-wing party was founded in Germany
According to the founders of the political party, the new party will support conservative policies
The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Germany has a conflict: Some members of the party from the WerteUnion (Union of Values) group, which is focused on right-wing voters, have announced their withdrawal from the party and the creation of a new political association.
This is discussed in the publication Euractiv.
This event took place in the context of intensifying competition for the support of right-wing voters in Germany and growing public anger over the rise of right-wing extremism.
Members of WerteUnion voted on Saturday to break with the CDU and delegated the task of creating a new party with the same name to the well-known former head of the internal service Hans-Georg Maassen.
"A significant majority of the members voted to create a party with the current name," Maassen said.
The new political grouping plans to support conservative policies and promote a "political turnaround" in Germany, Maassen said in an interview with DPA after announcing his plans.
WerteUnion emerged in 2017 as an unofficial group within the center-right CDU for those members who were dissatisfied with the centrist policies of former Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Right-wing parties across Europe have recently experienced an increase in popularity in public polls, which is causing an intense struggle for the support of the right-wing electorate.
