American actor Robert De Niro arrived at the presentation of the film "Ezra" in New York. Speaking with journalists on the red carpet, the actor, who played in the comedy drama directed by Tony Goldwyn, commented on the decision of the jury, which found billionaire Donald Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business documents.

"I think justice has been done. It's only part of the bigger picture, so I want to be very careful", De Niro said.
At first, he expressed his thoughts with restraint. However, answering the question whether, in his opinion, this could affect the presidential election, he said: "I think it will. It should never have come to this stage. I don't want to say it, but I am very upset about it. I have to say something. This is my country. This man wants to destroy it. That's it. He's crazy".

However, the actor emphasized that he fears for his safety, as he makes many critical statements about the former US president.

"Think about it. It makes me even angrier, but I have to be afraid to be scared. And that's why I said we can't be intimidated. People are fed up, they will fight back. In this country, it's not about us", De Niro added.

Robert De Niro, known for playing murderers and psychopaths, said he would never play Trump, calling it too immoral.

On May 30, a jury in New York found Donald Trump guilty in a case of financial fraud in the bribery of a porn star in 2016.

The former US president became the first president in US history to be convicted of a felony. Trump, known for his lengthy appeals against court rulings against him, is also likely to appeal the verdict, which could significantly delay his sentencing, scheduled for July 11.

On March 26, a New York court banned former US President Donald Trump from publicly commenting on witnesses, prosecutors, court officials and jurors in the upcoming criminal trial of porn star Stormy Daniels.
