As a result of repatriation activities, the bodies of 212 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine

The bodies of fallen Ukrainian defenders from the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Kharkiv sectors, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine (TOT), have been returned home.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will transport repatriated bodies and remains to designated government facilities. Representatives of law enforcement agencies and forensic experts will identify the victims. After identification, the bodies of the defenders will be handed over to their families for a decent burial.

The repatriation of the bodies took place with the assistance of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Ministry of Reintegration, the Commissioner for Missing Persons in cooperation with the Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine, the Central Military Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other law enforcement agencies, departments and international organizations.

The transfer of the bodies of the fallen soldiers is carried out in accordance with the norms of the Geneva Conventions.

  • On April 26, the bodies of 140 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine as a result of repatriation measures.
