Pistorius arrives in Odesa and announces new €500 million aid package from Germany
On Thursday, May 30, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a new €500 million military aid package for Ukraine during a visit to Odesa
It is indicated that the visit of the German official was kept secret for security reasons. While in Odesa, Pistorius announced a new military aid package, which will include a "large number" of missiles for Iris-T air defense systems, drones for reconnaissance and combat operations in the Black Sea, spare parts for artillery systems supplied by Germany, spare engines for Leopard tanks, and a million rounds of ammunition for small arms.
Part of the German aid is already ready to be shipped to Ukraine. However, the delivery of 18 new wheeled howitzers of a new design will begin in 2025. The country will also finance training courses for Ukrainian technicians.
"We will continue to support you in your defense efforts", Pistorius said during a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
