The signing took place during Zelensky's visit to Lisbon.
The agreement enshrines Portugal's commitment to support Ukraine to restore its territorial integrity within the 1991 borders, including the territorial sea. The document also stipulates that Portugal will provide Ukraine with at least 126 million euros in military support this year.
The agreement also confirms the country's participation in the F-16 coalition, the International Maritime Security Capabilities Coalition, as well as in the large-caliber ammunition procurement program, mine clearance efforts and maritime security enhancement.
"Separate blocks of the agreement are devoted to bilateral cooperation in defense industry, intelligence, combating organized crime and propaganda, and countering chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear risks", — stated in the message of the press service of Zelenskyy.
It is noted that Portugal will support Ukraine on its way to NATO.
The document also states that Lisbon supports President Zelenskyy's Formula of Peace, bringing the aggressor to justice, strengthening sanctions against Russia, as well as the creation of a mechanism of compensation for crimes.
"Portugal also commits to continue to participate in the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children and to contribute to the achievement of the goals set out in the Framework Document of this coalition", the press service said.
Portugal became the 12th country with which Ukraine signed a bilateral security agreement to implement the provisions of the G7 Joint Declaration adopted in Vilnius on 12 July last year. Prior to that, Ukraine signed bilateral agreements with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Germany, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain and Belgium.
Earlier, about the arrival of Zelenskyy in Portugal, reported the TV channel RTP.
The plane with Zelenskyy landed in Lisbon at about 14:45 local time — at Figo Maduro's military airfield. The Ukrainian leader was met by the political and military leadership of Portugal.
