Lithuanian government approves €13.5 million purchase of air surveillance radars as part of German initiative to strengthen Ukraine's air defense

"Today, the government has allocated 13.5 million euros to purchase radars that will strengthen the warning system in Ukraine. Germany has handed over its third Patriot system and other systems to Ukraine, so we are making our contribution in return", said the Lithuanian defense minister.

According to Kasciunas, his country's goal this year is to send four radars to Ukraine.

"They will enhance warning, visibility and the ability to destroy air targets. This year we will send four radars, and then we will continue to purchase radars, because Ukraine needs them, they themselves have identified this need", the Defense Minister said.
  • On April 17, the German government took the initiative to find and provide Ukraine with additional air defense equipment.
  • On May 20, it became known that, following the results of the Ramstein meeting, the German initiative to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense joined  the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Romania, Belgium and Lithuania.
