Spanish Girona forward Artem Dovbyk had an impressive debut season in La Liga
In the final round of La Liga, Artem Dovbyk scored a hat-trick against Granada (7-0). The Ukrainian forward increased the number of his goals in the championship to 24.
The 26-year-old Ukrainian with 24 goals and 8 assists became the second best La Liga debutant in the 21st century. Only Cristiano Ronaldo showed a better result in his first season with Real Madrid in 2009/10 — 35 (26+9).
Dovbyk was ahead of Luis Suárez (16+16), Robert Lewandowski (23+7), Radamel Falcao (24+4), Gareth Bale (13+15) and all other La Liga debutants in the 21st century.
Dovbyk repeated and surpassed Shevchenko
24 goals in one season in the elite championship is a record figure among Ukrainian footballers. Previously, only Andriy Shevchenko managed to do this. The legendary AC Milan forward showed such a result in three Serie A competitions (99/00, 00/01 and 03/04). In addition to 24 goals, the Girona forward gave 8 assists.
