Defense Forces stop Russian troops in Kharkiv sector and conduct counter-offensive actions — General Staff

In the Kharkiv sector, Russians are conducting offensive operations aimed at creating a buffer zone, but the enemy has been stopped and the situation is under control

This was stated Colonel Ihor Prokhorenko, representative of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center in Kyiv

He noted that the situation at the front is difficult, the Defense Forces are holding the line in the east and south of the country, inflicting fire on the enemy. Fierce fighting continues almost along the entire frontline.

"The main actions are taking place in Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. As for the Kharkiv direction, the enemy is conducting offensive operations to create a buffer zone. The enemy is currently stopped, the situation is under control, counter-offensive actions are underway", noted Colonel Ihor Prokhorenko.

According to him, the occupants are also trying to advance in the east of Kharkiv region and plan to bypass Kupiansk from the east, but without success.

The situation in Sumy and Chernihiv regions is under control. The enemy is amassing troops on the territory of Russia and is conducting air and artillery strikes on border settlements, using UAVs.

Colonel Prokhorenko added that the Defense Forces are aware of the enemy's plans and are doing everything possible to thwart them. In particular, they are taking measures to allocate reserves and firepower to intercept the initiative on the battlefield, and are actively engaging artillery, aviation and unmanned systems.
