On May 22, France conducted the first successful test launch of the modernized air-to-ground strategic intermediate-range missile ASMPA-R: it is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead
This was reported by espresso.tv

It is indicated that the ASMPA-R missile without a warhead was fired from a Rafale B aircraft of the French Strategic Air Force along a trajectory that simulated a "nuclear air attack". Its tests took place as part of Operation Durendal.

"ASMPA-R meets the French president's desire to maintain the operational reliability of the French armed forces in the long term", the statement said.

The ASMPA modernization program is led by the French Defense Procurement Agency. It allowed to improve the internal characteristics of the missile, maintaining the reliability of the airborne nuclear deterrent. As part of this program, France also plans to create a 4th generation air-to-surface nuclear missile ASN4G by 2035.
