Ministry of Finance attracted an additional 60 million lei in a new bond issue
The additional loan, part of the 4 billion lei plan to refinance public debt
The Ministry of Finance managed to attract another 60 million lei from banks in an additional bond issue on Friday, completing Thursday's auction. In this auction, the ministry initially borrowed 572.5 million lei through a benchmark government bond issue with a residual maturity of 127 months at an average yield of 6.34% per annum.
The supplementary issue had a nominal value of 60 million lei and banks submitted bids worth 70 million lei.
In December 2023, the Ministry of Finance planned to borrow a total of 4 billion lei from commercial banks, to which 525 million lei may be added through additional non-competitive bidding sessions, reports Forbes Romania. This amount is intended to refinance public debt and finance the state budget deficit. The current borrowing plan is 1.15 billion lei lower than the 5.675 billion lei programmed in October.
