The Center for Countering Disinformation refuted russian propaganda claims about Zelenskyy's usurpation of power

The Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian fakes and manipulations that russian propaganda launched on 20 May.

Fake: dmitri medvedev said that "Zelenskyy did not prolong, but usurped power in Ukraine".

"Zelenskyy has not prolonged but usurped power in Ukraine", medvedev said.

Refutation: Ukrainian legislation does not allow elections to be held during the legal regime of martial law. Everything else is speculation and attempts by the enemy to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.

Manipulation: russian foreign minister sergei lavrov says it's time for the kiev regime to recognize the realities on the ground.

"It is time for the Kiev regime to recognize the realities on the ground. I hope that this message, which has been repeated many times, will be taken up and the West will realize that it is time to stop sacrificing Ukraine to its absolutely futile goals", lavrov said.

Refutation: Another manipulation by lavrov to portray Ukraine as a "puppet of the West" and create an alternate reality in which russia is waging war not against Ukraine, but against the entire West/NATO.
