Anti-drug operation in Tulcea: Decisive raids and arrests in illicit trafficking case
Authorities strike a blow against a trafficking ring: Drugs, weapons and cash seized in a coordinated action
In a concerted action, border guards from the Coast Guard and officers from the Tulcea Organized Crime Service collaborated under the coordination of prosecutors from the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism - Tulcea Territorial Office to execute ten house search warrants in the municipality of Tulcea. The action is part of a criminal case concerning risk and high-risk drug trafficking offences committed in a continuous form.
Arrests and Judicial Coordination
The judge of rights and freedoms of the Tulcea Court ordered the preventive arrest of four defendants for a period of 30 days, announces Romanian Border Police. This measure follows evidence gathered from the searches and the investigation carried out by the authorities. DIICOT prosecutors have held that the group specializing in trafficking in prohibited substances operated on the territory of Tulcea county between 2021 and January 2024.
Crime details
The defendants are accused of repeatedly possessing and selling risk drugs, such as cannabis and cannabis resin, to consumers in the area. With sums ranging from 60 to 200 lei, they carried out illicit transactions during the said period. Furthermore, one of the defendants was identified as illegally possessing and selling MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, a high-risk drug.
Research results
During the searches, authorities discovered significant amounts of cash in lei, euros and pounds sterling, as well as significant quantities of high-risk and risky drugs. Among the items seized were a non-lethal handgun, a sniper rifle, handmade cigarettes containing cannabis and ecstasy in tablet form, grills and other evidence.

The action benefited from the support of fighters of the Special Action Service of the Tulcea County Police Inspectorate and the gendarmes of the Constanta Mobile Gendarmerie Group. Specialist support was provided by the Special Operations Directorate of the Romanian Police.
