Hungary vetoes Council of Europe resolution on Ukrainian peace formula
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announces veto of the Council of Europe's resolution to support President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Ukrainian peace formula

He justified the decision by saying that Russia's position was allegedly not taken into account.
"The Council of Europe is now 75 years old, it could be a great platform for making peace, but after the exclusion of the Russians, this opportunity is lost here. Instead of fantasizing about nuclear war, we finally need real peace talks. Real peace negotiations can only take place when all the parties at war are sitting at the table", Szijjarto wrote.
The Hungarian foreign minister added that he also proposed to add other peace plans to the Council of Europe resolution, but the majority rejected this request. Because of this, he vetoed it.
"Today, the Council wanted to adopt a resolution in which it wanted to recognize only and exclusively President Zelenskyy's peace plan as a formula for peace that should be considered and supported. This is unacceptable for us. Others have also planned peace plans that are no worse than the plan of the Ukrainian president", Szijjártó said.
- On April 23, Péter Szijjártó said that Budapest would block the European Union's aid to Ukraine in the amount of 2 billion euros.
